Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of holystic.ai (the "Service"), operated by Holystic.ai LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

What the Service is

holystic is a daily reflection app for people in the Christian tradition. It accepts free-text journal entries and slider input, generates AI-assisted reflections grounded in a curated corpus of scripture, prayers, and practices, and persists your history so you can review it. The Service is provided as-is, with the goal of being a helpful reflective companion — not as professional advice of any kind.

What the Service is not

Not professional advice. The reflections produced by the AI are not medical advice, mental health advice, spiritual direction, theological instruction, legal advice, financial advice, or any other professional guidance. If you are experiencing a crisis, please contact qualified professionals or emergency services.

Not doctrinally authoritative. Reflections draw from sources in your chosen tradition but do not represent official teaching of any church, denomination, or religious body. The Service is a tool for personal reflection; it isn't an authority on what your tradition believes.

Not infallible. AI-generated content can be mistaken, incomplete, or out of context. We work to ground every cited source in vetted material, but the synthesis around it is machine-generated. Read with discernment.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that happens under it. If you lose access to the email address tied to your account, contact support — we'll do what we can to help.

Acceptable use

By using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Use it for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any applicable law.
  • Submit content that infringes on others' rights, harasses or targets others, or that you don't have the right to share.
  • Attempt to extract, copy, or otherwise misuse the corpus beyond your personal reflection use within the app.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data, to our infrastructure, or to our underlying systems.
  • Use automated means to interact with the Service at a rate that impairs other users' experience.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its content.

Content you submit

You retain ownership of the journal entries, goals, feedback, and other content you submit to the Service. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content as necessary to provide the Service to you (including sending the content of reflections to OpenAI for AI processing as described in our Privacy Policy). We don't use your content to train AI models; we don't share it for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.

Service availability

We aim to keep the Service running but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance, outages, issues with third-party services (OpenAI, Clerk, hosting), and unforeseen interruptions are part of running an internet service. We will not be liable for downtime or for data processing delays caused by upstream services.

Changes to the Service

The Service is under active development. Features may be added, changed, or removed. We'll do our best to communicate material changes — particularly to anything affecting data you've stored.

Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account from the Settings screen. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that pose a risk to the Service or other users. We'll notify you when reasonable to do so.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT THE AI RESPONSES WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR SITUATION.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL HOLYSTIC.AI LLC OR ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Holystic.ai LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged in the app before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
